Halloween Charity Ball has been so lucky to be sponsored by businesses that truly embody integrity and philanthropic ideals. Last week, we took a look at Gavin Scott Salon and Spa, which is a wonderful business in the area. Today, we’d like to devote some time to looking at STEERE Enterprises, our other main sponsor.
The history of STEERE Enterprises is one that embodies the sometimes elusive American dream. It’s a sweet story, three generations deep, of a local, family-owned business that has been born of Akron’s strong industrial past.
Seventy years ago, an engineer at the B. F. Goodrich Company gathered the courage to start a business that used a specific material he met while working in the rubber industry. His name was Frank W. Steere, Jr., a man who had less than a thousand dollars to his name. Despite his lack of resources, he put in a great deal of hard work in the basement of his Akron home, ultimately succeeding and laying the groundwork for the STEERE that exists today.
If you ever get to experience the pleasure of walking into the STEERE headquarters in Tallmadge, a picture of Frank hangs proudly in the lobby.
STEERE is a company that manufactures plastics and automotive parts. While this might not be something that most people pay attention to on a daily basis, STEERE works hard to ensure that the products they create are of the highest possible quality, which is important for automotive systems.
Beyond this, STEERE is also active in the community, firmly believing that, by working with local nonprofits, they can help make the greater Akron area a better place. They partner with organizations such as United Way, the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, Leadership Akron, and Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
Their commitment to quality—coupled with the friendly, community-focused people who work for STEERE and the core values that rest at the center of their business model—point to one thing: this is a company with integrity.
We are so thankful to be working with a sponsor who not only cares about quality products and services, but one that has been a part of Akron since 1949. In the near future, look for STEERE’s new Facebook page to see what they’re up to.
And for now, be sure to purchase your tickets to the Halloween Charity Ball, proudly sponsored by STEERE.
